On Saturday December 10, a magnificent closing ceremony marked the closure of this year’s festival. It took place at the Conference Center of the Ilia Prefecture in Pyrgos and, among other things, it revolved around the awards for the 19th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People and the 16th Camera Zizanio. On Saturday night, the Deputy Head of the Western Greece Prefecture, Mr Giorgos Georgiopoulos, declared the start of the 19th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in an amazingly crowded theater. Look Beyond Borders

For the visual art of 16th Camera Zizanio’s  catalogue cover we selected the drawing of a 15-year-old refugee girl from Afghanistan, Sahar Rezai.

She survived from the war in her country, and after a laborious – due to her reduced mobility – and dangerous journey of 50 days, she travelled through the Aegean Sea but she got trapped in Greece when its borders were closed.

Now, in a camp of refugees, she spends the endless hours of immobility in her wheelchairs by drawing the big refugee odyssey, the disappointments and the dreams.

  • It is dedicated to all the children of the world who are seeking after a hospitable place to stand on and create.

photo-1-unknown_fate

The 16th Camera Zizanio (December 3 to 10, 2016 ) will be totally unlike any other. Seeking to be the most real voice of children and young people all over the world, the most representative step of young people’s audiovisual creation, it takes the great leap. The international section that has been until now only informative, becomes competitive. And it is added in already pre-existing sections, the European and the Greek one. Read more of this post
