A book dedicated to Zizanio!

Yes, this came to be, as well!

My name is… Cloud

A book that has recently come out from Patakis publishers is dedicatetd to the Zizania of the Olympia International Film Festival and Camera zizanio, as well as to all the Zizania, wherever they are. And it could not have been any other way, since one of the main sources of inspiration, is our Zizania!

For those who are not familiar with the Olympia Film Festival, we have to say that the Zizania are all the kids that constitute its soul: those who write in the daily newspaper, “The Zizanio”, are parts of all the jury committies, take part in cinematic workshops, make films, radio shows, help with the organisation of the Festival, and not only.

The book’s writer, a young, extremely talented novelist, Angeliki Darlasi. The title of the book is “My name is… Cloud or the unwrritten pages of a Nephele”. It is a youngsters novel the main character of which is a sixteen year old girl, Nephele.

The writer claims that the characters in the book are all fictionary but at the same time are so real. They are all around us. She is using first person narration since the narrative vehicle is the diary pages of the sixteen year old girl. So, she introduces us right into her world, her thoughts. With memories from her own teenage past but also being motivated by nowadays’ children, their current dreams in such a turbulent world.

“The dreams into which, all these Zizania that I’ve been meeting for the past 6 years in the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People, allowed me to burrow for a while”, says the writer. “Their longing and the hope in their faces. The emotion and anguish in the Junior High School of Pelopio, the smiles of others in the 1st Junior High School in Kos.”

And she goes on:

“And somewhat like this, I wanted to turn back 16 in our day. In a Greece that (as always?) hurts us. But being 16 happens only once in your life. and no matter how much it hurts at some points or seems to be intolerable… it remains uniquely beautiful. So, I decided to listen to 16-year-old Nephele tell her story. I was just taking notes…”

Thank you Angeliki. Have a nice trip Cloud!
