The great pathways that Camera Zizanio creates for the young filmmakers this time lead to Ireland!
The organizers of the Fresh Film Festival (a Festival with films made by youngsters that is taking place for the 12th time) have informed us, that 2 of the total 5 international films… are from Greece… and are nominated for the “International Young Filmmaker Award”, presented for the first time at Fresh Film Festival in 2009.
It’s about the films “NO ENTRY” and “AND YOU CAME ALONG…!”.
Τhe first film, duration 5.35’’, is made by young refuges from Afghanistan at the Refugee Guest House in Makrinitsa and Agria, Prefecture of Magnesia. The production of the film was supported from the Greek Film Centre.
The second film, duration 5.36’’, is and individual creation of Vassia Papailiou from Pyrgos, Ilia Prefecture, that along with the direction and the editing she also composed the music. The Award Ceremony will take place on Wednesday 25th March, at Store Cinema.
However, another film from Greece gained a distinction: it’s going to be screened – out of competition – at the Closing Ceremony during the Junior awards day on Thursday 26th March. It’s about «READY, ROB, SET», an 8 minute film, made by a group of children (students of Primary Education). A film that has a unique distinctiveness… is created and completed without any help from adults!
Two weeks before the festival in Limerick, public screenings are programmed in 5 regions, Limerick, Galway, Dublin, Cork, and Leinster-Ulster. During those screenings two more films from Greece were screened among them… “THE WAY TO PERFECTION” from Mania Roumpani and “PURPLE RAYS” from Nantia Mantesi and Maria Mpenteniti.
All the above films participated at the 8th European Meeting of Young People’s Audiovisual Creation – Camera Zizanio that took place in Pyrgos, Ilia Prefecture, 2008.
