At every occasion Olympia Film Festival and the Camera Zizanio prove that they are much more than a Festival.
In these difficult times that our country is going through, they cannot remain uninvolved in the daily strugle that give our people to survive.
Therefore they decided to reinforce, once again, the effort of the Culture Association of Crete to collect food for people in need. So, within the framework of action “CINE-LESSONS”, movies were offered for cinema screenings organized for schools of Chania in Crete . The entrance for children was free of charge but there was an OPTIONAL “social ticket” so there, every child could enjoy the movie helping at the same time in gathering standard food for the needs of the social structures of the region.
The screenings were held from14 to 22 October 2014 and the first records were impressive! Approximately 4,700 children attended the screenings and 3.5 tons of food collected!
The event was held with the support of the region of Crete – Regional Section of the municipality of Chania, municipality of Platanias and CAID-Centre of Society, Science and Art.
As the organisers note “CULTURE that HAS NO REFERENCES to the SOCIETY (and especially now that a large part of society is crushed!!!) IT’S NOT CULTURE. “
