Roland Ferge in Pyrgos
Dimitris Spyrou reporting from Berlin
It is really touching to see young kids who got their first international experiences in Pyrgos by taking with their films in Camera Zizanio, grow up to become professional cinematographers and come in strong into the professional world. One of them is Roland Ferge from Mako, Hungury.
As a student, he has been coming to Pyrgos for five successive years. He took part in Camera Zizanio, the workshops, watched the professional films of the Olympia International Film Festival that were screened in Apollo. This year, he is graduating from the Budapest Film Academy (Budapesti Kommunikációs és Üzleti Főiskola). He is 23 years old.
He has finished his student film in December (Title: AWAY). He entered it in the Berlin Festival and his film got accepted for the official competition section of Generation. -It might be the only student film to be chosen.
We met yesterday at the reception of the section. When he saw me he hugged me, very touched. He talked to me with great nostalgia and enthousiasm about Pyrgos, his friends the young children of Pyrgos. He can’t wait to head a workshop for the young, new Zizania. And as we were talking with Roland, there comes another Zizanio!!Martha Portales Olivia from Barcelona!
Also having been to Pyrgos five times as a student. And now, the head of a research team of the University of Barcelona. The research is titled: “Film Literacy Now and in the future”.
Both Roland and Martha spoke about Pyrgos, the Olympia Film Festival and Camera Zizanio, with great love. About the experiences that got to determine their professional orientation.
Dimitris Spyrou is the artistic director of Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People
