A European Network for young filmmakers

The 2nd Youth Cinema Conference, that was held in Carlovac, Croatia concluded on September 12, 2013, by the signing of a MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING for the creation of a European YOUTH CINEMA NETWORK – (YCN). The 1st Seminar was organized in Norway, a year before.

Followed by three days of intense discussions on topics covering almost all the concerns of those organizations or individuals (involved in the youth audiovisual creation)  such as the benefits of a local community from the Youth Festivals, the funding problems, the educational programs and the issues of an international collaboration.

The Seminar was attended by representatives of about  fifteen youth festivals or organizations dealing with young people’s audiovisual  education, from Croatia , Ireland , Germany , Norway , Serbia , Greece , Hungary, Austria , Denmark etc. Greece and Camera Zizanio were represented by Nikos Theodosiou and Maria Beteniti .

Vision of this newly established Network is

  • to promotes  and improves filmmaking  by  young  people
  • to  empower young filmmakers to tell  their  stories  by  giving  them tools  and perspectives.

  • to  bring  the  young  filmmakers  and their  stories  to  an  international  audience.

Network’s next meeting will take place in 2014, in Belgrade. But from now, the foundations of coordination and cooperation through internet have already been laid. We will inform you soon for all the processes that are in progress.
