Valencia: the beginning is done!

MICE1
Although it was prepared in very little time, finally it was a very successful event!

We are talking about the first Mostra International de Cinema Educatiu held in Valencia from 18-19 January 2013.

The event was a success thanks to our very active friend Josep Arbiol, his precious collaborator Ainhoa Berástegui and also to all that volunteers  who worked very hard.

The two-day event included screenings of films made by children, workshops and a roundtable on the topic “Kids, youth and Media Literacy”.

At screenings and workshops there was massive participation of children and parents.

MICE2The roundtable attracted the interest mainly οf teachers and as a Spanish journalist said, it was the most important debate ever on media literacy.
The participants of the roundtable were people with extensive experience in the cinema for children and young people: Gunther Kinstler (Rainbow Project) Germany, Nikos Theodossiou (artistic director of Camera Zizanio) Greece, Paolo Beneventi, (Director of Bambini Oggi Brescia) Italy, Birgitta Olsson (Film consultant, Film i Halland) Sweden,  Paula Jardon (dean of the University of Valencia) Spain, Nuria Cidoncha, (Director of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Valencia) Spain.

The text of the presentation of Nikos Theodossiou will soon be posted on this site.

In the panorama of films made of children, raised two Greek productions: “No more posts“, 5 ’44”,6th School of  Patras and “The first ice cream”, 5′,  Film Lab of Ikaria

The foreign guests enjoyed the wonderful Spanish hospitality and the rich artistic program with Spanish folklore that accompanied the opening and closing ceremonies.

The event was widely publicized by the media and due to that sponsors manifested their interest to enhance this effort.  This fact opens up good prospects for the future and is extremely important in difficult times that we are experiencing in Europe.
