Camera Zizanio

Ευρωπαϊκή Συνάντηση Νεανικής Οπτικοακουστικής Δημιουργίας

Why we continue?

Normally we should have remained silent.

After so many threatening debts from our previous event (December 2010) and no specific news for future funding, we shouldn’t have been planning anything.

We should also have closed all our doors and should have stopped  bothering the managers of public money about activities that “have no accepted meaning”, like the Greek writer Alexandros Papadiamantis used to say.

But we decided to keep on going. The 11th Camera Zizanio will take place, as it has been announced, from the 2nd till the 10th of December, together with the 14th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People because…

…we find ourselves in a difficult place…

…of replying to hundreds of children who spent time and creativity in order to make their films and are waiting for them to be shown on the big screen of our Festival, aiming for their own place in this world

…towards the teachers who helped them, spending hours of non-profitable work, since audiovisual creation is not included in the daily school schedule

…towards hundreds of our young friends from abroad who have already sent their films and are packing their luggage to participate, once more, in the biggest European event for audiovisual creation

…towards our cooperators in the other countries(Festivals, Events, artists etc) who rank our festival among the best in the world and are agonizingly watching our fight for survival and motivate us to hold on because they can see this is a battle against the cultural barbarity that is threatening us and the future of the new generation.

Just because this “difficult place” is our motivating power to create the future, this is why this year we are making a stronger than ever call for entries. Which we hope will be numerous.
