We’re really happy to announce you that the Greek entries that participated at the WILDLIFE VAASA FESTIVAL 2012, returned with 4 awards!

WILDLIFE VAASA FESTIVAL, in Finland, took place from November 22 to 25, 2012.

With Camera Zizanio’s initiative, the most remarkable Greek audiovisual creations with ecological subject were sent and screened at the Children and Young people Section.

In the 2^nd Category of Youngsters Films one of the 5 awards goes to the film:

• 3 MINUTES JOURNEY from the 1st High school of Orestiada

It was the 3^rd Category where the Greek films had a great success. Animation films compete in this Category. And they won 3 out of 5 awards!

The films are:

• THE SAD DOG from the 5th primary school of Holargos.
• THE BIG BELLY from Animasyros workshop
• SHORT MUSIC STORIES IN THE CRISIS ERA from 112th primary school of Athens.

Congratulations to all of them!

This year’s film workshops, one of the Camera Zizanio and Olympia Film Festival’s most dynamic events, with the participation of artists/educators from Greece and abroad (Sweden, Serbia, Netherlands), will offer unique moments of creation to children and adolescents, and are expected to produce a great number of films. Twenty years ago, when we started, we knew that we were going to swim against the current. In an era of a massive production of subculture, we were fighting for a children’s and youth cinema of quality, as well as, for the confirmation of the audiovisual teaching method as a substantial element of the modern education.

Two years ago, when the crisis aroused, the current became even stronger. “It’s not possible spending money on culture, the same time salaries, pensions, social benefits are being cut down”, they nastily say us. Ignoring, of course, that art and culture are basic elements of democracy. We were almost engulfed by the torrent.

At this moment, something really strange is happening. The number of the 70 participations in the Camera Zizanio’s Greek Sector is increased to the number of 180!
Almost the same thing happens with the participations coming from abroad. And, besides the bad economic situation, there is a strong desire from the participants traveling to Pyrgos, to meet us.
It seems with a counterattack!
